2020 World Match Racing Championships

2020 has been a very strange year for everyone in the world, especially in sailing with most events being canceled due to Covid-19. Luckily for our team the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club after working with the Bermuda Government has decided to go ahead with the 2020 Argo Gold Cup! In doing so the World Match Race Tour has decided to also make this the 2020 World Championship where there winner of the Gold Cup will be crowned World Champion.

We have been putting in some solid training days on both IOD's that we will sail in Bermuda as well as the more easily accessible Shields our team has in Oyster Bay, NY. We have put together a very strong team for this event with America's Cup sailors Matt Cornwell on bow and Chris Draper triming and doing strategy. The third person is Riptide tactician Sam Barron-Fox who will be trimming main, and skipper Chris Poole at the helm. We're very excited to be back on the water and racing for a World Championship title.

THANK YOU to all of our supporters who have believed in Riptide Racing and stood behind us 100%. We still have a long way to go, but we couldn’t have gotten this far without your support, for which we’re forever grateful. What we have showed is just part of Riptide Racing’s potential –with the necessary tools, we have the capacity to go all the way.

Daily updates will be posted here on our site as well as our Facebook and Instagram pages.

If you want to support our effort we have launched a 501c3 GoFundMe page below.
