Ficker Cup 2019

Day 1: A good start for the team here in California winning 5 out of 7 races in the first round robin, with a double round robin into semi finals set to be the format with the top 2 teams advancing to the Congressional Cup. The team is working well and ironing out crew work and roles on the boat, speed feels really good thanks to the extra time on the boat during the Butler Cup.

Day 2: Stable conditions set the tone for day two, and the team sailed really well going undefeated at 7-0 in the second round robin. At the end of the day the team found themselves in 1st place with a 12-2 record heading into the Semi Finals.

Day 3: Light air was the forecast for the final day of racing in Long Beach. The team came out charging in the Semi Finals again local sailor Dave Hood and his rock star team. Race one saw Dave's team in the lead but a mistake by them had them round the wrong top mark giving us the win. Race 2 and 3 were good with leads at the first top marks and continuing on to take both wins. In the finals it was a sudden death match as both Riptide Racing and Down Under Racing were guaranteed a spot in the 55th Congressional Cup. It was a close match all the way to the finish with Down Under coming out on top, but boat speed is feeling good heading into Con Cup.

This result would not have been possible without the hard work and determination of this amazing crew.
